The fourth project of Regus in Penang is located at Level 3 of SPICE Arena, Bayan Baru and within Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone. With a total area of over 27 acres, SPICE Arena has state-of-the-art infrastructure equipped with indoor stadium, office space, multi-story parking and aquatic centre facilities.
For Regus Spice, the client wanted to create a dynamic workplace aiming to unite Penang's business crowd. Therefore, D&P Associates refurbished the 3rd level of building with area of 1200 sqm that take a shape of an arch. The challenge was to mimic Penang Island's colorful nature and bring a fresh, playful and comfortable atmosphere.
One very apparent and different detail you will notice that there is a gigantic handmade tree that stems from the middle of the space. It is this Tree of Life that our design centers around. The white tree represents fresh start on life, positive energy, good health and a bright future. From there, we crafted a color palette of fresh colors that serve these meanings.
Structure-wise, the balcony was transformed to a work space furnished with outdoors furniture to support more workers. The co-working space is naturally divided without using free-standing walls to maximize the natural lighting through the space. Then, the white tree also serves as a division between the reception area and the co-working area.
The community table and the soft seating are separated by using Interface carpet to make it the area seems like it’s floating like an island.
In the meeting booths, we cover the pads with smooth Mira fabric from Gabriel so they get more comfy. The sofa and chairs in the soft seating are also colored by Mira fabric. It lets softness in furniture be visible to the eye.
Other than that, our team used the contemporary-styled, simple and flexible furniture like pendant lightings from Fontana Arte and Brokis, and a series of solid tables, chairs, sofas and storage units from other trusted vendors. The Alki Kuskoa, Alki Laia, and Alki Koila Lounge surrounds the white tree and work in harmony as visual dividers.
All in all, Regus Spice Penang is one of our most prized project. A great amount of creativity is poured into it. The attention to every design element rewarded us with a serene ambiance. Regus Spice Penang is another living example of Spaces’ vision: a workplace that feels like home.
